Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as Low-Level Light Therapy or cold laser, is a physical therapy that uses a high-energy, visible light beam, which is athermal, to achieve various biological effects. Laser irradiation penetrates cells, acting in a biostimulating way, producing analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-edematous effects.
LLLT is used in various fields:
- Postpartum: used to provide relief in cases of mastitis, irritated nipples, treatment of cesarean scars, episiotomy, or laceration.
- Post orthopedic surgery: treatment of scars
- Other treatment indications include: hemorrhoids, genital herpes, diaper rash, skin abrasions.
