Invasive physiotherapy includes a set of techniques where the highly specialized therapist inserts sterile medical needles into tissues, using ultrasound as a guiding tool. The two main techniques practiced at Kinetic Center are Dry Needling and Therapeutic Percutaneous Electrolysis (EPTE), also known as Musculoskeletal Percutaneous Electrolysis (EPM) or Intratissue Percutaneous Electrolysis (EPI).
In Dry Needling, the sterile, single-use needle functions to mechanically stimulate the myofascial tissue in specific Trigger Points: irritable muscle zones with contracted and painful fibers, causing hypersensitivity and characteristic referred pains. Trigger Points can arise due to biomechanical overload, incorrect postures, traumas, or thermal shocks. The Dry Needling needle acts directly on the Trigger Points and activates biological mechanisms of intratissue regeneration.
EPTE, Therapeutic Percutaneous Electrolysis, also involves needle insertion through the skin and, in addition, applies a low-intensity galvanic current. This also stimulates the tissue self-regeneration processes. It is highly effective, painless, quick to apply, and reduces recovery times. Therapeutic Percutaneous Electrolysis is also known as Musculoskeletal Percutaneous Electrolysis (EPM) or Intratissue Percutaneous Electrolysis (EPI). This technique is particularly indicated in the treatment of tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, and epicondylitis.
